Newest Toy!!!

We JUST bought a new camera at that is "Kate Proof". It is waterproof/shockproof/freezeproof, AND we got the extended 3 year advanced warranty, for the inevitable dropping into some form of may have cost $400 total...but it's worth it!

So now I have to figure out how to use it, and let the battery charge. So tomorrow after work, I will get some video and pictures of Hudson! I am SO excited!

Thank you Todd for indulging with me and not saying "no" to my crazy new ideas each and every day! We have wanted a new camera since Thanksgiving when I broke mine...and just placed the camera lower on the priority list. I am glad to finally have another camera!

He missed us!

Hudson has been SO happy since Todd and I got home late Monday night/early Tuesday morning (1:30am!). He kept waking me up during my few short hours of sleep, by rubbing all over my face, drooling, purring, licking etc. I realized that this is the longest we have left him alone! I wish that he was more calm though, esp. since he has been taking the Prozac while we were gone. Today Hudson has been VERY hyper, and running around the house having feline crackfits! I am cleaning, doing laundry, studying, etc...he is running around, jumping off of things and acting like a fool. I had to lock him in the dog crate with some toys, because he used my face as a launching pad off the couch and scratched me up! What a retard! He is also trying to eat some Lily of the Valley bulbs my Aunt gave I had to lock those up yesterday while unpacking!

Here is an awesome link Todd's brother sent me last week, and I finally got a chance to watch! I forgot the volume was turned up real loud, and the cat upset Cole, who then started to walk around huffing and puffing!

And some awesome Cat Videos...I tried Cat Yodeling with Hudson, he won't yodel! Instead, he purrs and quietly trills...something isn't right with him!

I cannot get the embedded video to work, so I will just have to post the links :(

Maybe by the end of the Summer Semester and my Intro to Computers Class, I will get better with this!
Speaking of, time to get back to studying!

The decision has been made for me....

Hudson has dug his own "grave". Last night we let him in our room, and I awoke at 5am to a strange noise behind me. He was chewing on my pillowcase ties while I was sleeping on the pillow! This is a new low! So, I will pick up the Prozac today, and do a trial run...I am still on the edge some, but now am even more worried about the eventuality of surgery to remove a foreign body!

In other Huddy news...I was cutting up some of my Squash to eat (I was SOOO excited to be able to eat one, finally!) and it turns out, Hudson LOVES Squash! Go figure. He ran off with it, ate it under the table, then came back for more. He also loves Mango, but not Banana! Such a crazy veggie loving cat. I also got some more pictures of Hudson chewing on/playing with his cat grass.

Time to make some coffee and head to work!

I love my job, and the clinic where I work is by far my favorite place to have ever been employed. We have our fair share of drama, but it is inevitable when you work with 8+ women on a regular basis. My first day of work here, I really hit it off with one of the other techs. We are so very alike, in all the crazy right ways. She is just as big of an Earth loving hippie as I am, her animals are her children, she prefers all natural and Organic for everything, and she researches the hell out of everything...we are now convinced we are twins, separated at birth and lied to about our true age (she is 3 years older than me). One day we had an awesome hippie client tell us everyone should spend at least 10 minutes outside daily, "Earthing" themselves. She said to take off your shoes, lay in the grass and just enjoy Mother Nature. We LOVE that idea! So part of Hudson's new routine will include Earthing daily.

Todd and I have a cat harness that Emily used to wear in her thinner days ;)  so we make Hudson wear it. I say "make" because it is pink, and he hates it! I think the color looks good against his grey coat, Todd said he looks gay...even more now because his pheromone color is purple! With the harness on, and a dog leash attached, Hudson is ready for Earthing! He spends most of his time rolling around on the grass, sometimes I "drag" him with the leash, which he LOVES, we even tried climbing a few trees. I laid down in the grass, and Hudson snuggled on my stomach for a few minutes, then wanted to explore the bushes where that damn mouse lives.

Me and my boy!

Afterward we came back into the yard, and Hudson started rolling all over Cole, who was Earthing (ie: sleeping in the sun). The video is blurry, Todd's camera phone isn't all that great...but I didn't have pockets in my dress, and Hudson sure as heck wasn't going to carry my phone!  Todd was unable to get the original video of Hudson rolling on Cole, it didn't turn on in I kept picking up Hudson and putting him down on Cole!

Todd also took a couple of pictures of my Sunflowers!

They are beautiful!
My Squash is growing again, but no more Strawberries...we have a field mouse that keeps coming in our yard and eating my plants! He devoured my Daisy's, Basil, Thyme, Oregano, Strawberries and a Squash. As well as ate all my birdseed, extra herb/veggie seeds, and is chewing up the newspaper under the composter! I am soooo flippin mad at the mouse, but I refuse to kill it. I need to get a trap that allows me to release him elsewhere. My Dad has woods behind his house, however part of me feels bad moving the mouse from his family! Todd tells me I am being silly :) Hudson almost caught the mouse last week! Todd heard a noise from under the grill, first the mouse runs out, then Huddy followed, the mouse made it under the fence though. I am happy he scared the mouse off, even though it will come back. I would feel horrible if he caught it and hurt it! Maybe I will just buy food for the mouse, and feed him in the bushes behind our fence.

Well, I guess I should get back to doing schoolwork. This is my last Thursday morning off, I will now work all day every I guess I should be productive and get laundry done, clean and study before work this afternoon. I have lots to do, because next week we are driving up to Buffalo. It took awhile to get all of us Grand kids out of school (kinda, I am the only one, but my classes are online) so we can all meet and bury a memorial tree for my Opa at the Nature Preserve where he volunteered for over 10 years. They are also putting in a bench for him with all the money donated after he passes away! It's amazing to see all the hard work he put in there pay off in such a meaningful way. I am excited to see our family again, but am NOT looking forward to the LONG LONG drive up (about 14 - 15 hours...).

YAY! I found my micro-sd card :) Here are some Huddy pictures!
I love this face!

Hudson has been going even more crazy than usual, which led to a Petsmart shopping spree and buying him all kinds of toys! He now has a Kong, to make feeding time more is a DOG Kong, because the Cat ones are far too flimsy and I am trying to AVOID a foreign body, not cause one. We also bought him a cat tunnel that lights up and makes noise, cat grass and a cat nip plant! He had SO much fun with the plants, therefore my pictures are somewhat blurry. As I have said before, he is hard to get good pictures of!
I am not sure what he is doing behind the Cat Grass!

This one is blurry because he just picked up the Cat Nip and SLAMMED it down!

Kinda dark...there is dry food at the bottom, then canned food on top.

Hudson's Birthday Gift

Good morning :)

Today is my 24th Birthday...Hudson decided to help me celebrate by eating the remaining strings to my pillow cases!

I was pleasantly awoken by Todd whispering "Happy Birthday" and he let the cats into the room. Emily and Fluff started cuddling with me, and within moments Hudson had eaten the ties off my pillow cases...I decided against taking him to work this morning. I wanted to enjoy my coffee and breakfast with Todd before he left for work. I have the day off today, my Birthday happened to fall on my ONE day off this week :)

Hudson has also let him self out of the dog crate, and harassed me in the bathroom. If he keeps this up, he may be skipping breakfast!

I guess I should feed them now, then go back to be lazy until Todd gets off work at 1ish. He is then taking me out for a surprise birthday lunch, day out, then dinner....I have been harassing him all week for details, but he has been strong! I did however get to open my card last night. Only because we both had a bad day, and I felt sick to my stomach from a headache. We then snugged up with Hudson and watched X-men. I am starting to wonder about letting him around while we watch these types of movies...after watching the original three Star Wars movies, Hudson seems particularly evil...DARTH HUDSON. It sounds intimidating!
we MUST buy him this costume!
Oh yea, I STILL haven't found my micro sd card adapter, so my awesomely cute pictures of Hudson are still on my phone.

He did it again...

Oh it has been awhile since my last post...and I am sure you can guess what Huddy did again, but we will get to that soon. There is LOTS to catch up on!

I REALLY meant to blog about 2 weeks ago, I was SO proud of Hudson! We drew blood on him WHILE he was awake! I was expecting to have to sedate his crazy behind, so what if it took 4 people what if we had 2 people restrain, 1 talk to him and me drawing the blood...we still did it! He was so good! I really wish I had an extra person available to take a picture of our venipuncture efforts, it was impressive. This may not mean much to someone outside the field, but I drew blood from his medial sapheneous vein with a butterfly catheter. Meaning, Huddy was laying on his side, and I drew blood from the vein on the inside of his leg, about 6cc's with a butterfly catheter. I think this is one of the best ways to draw blood on cats. It doesn't stress them out as much, and it's pretty darn easy with some practice.

The bloodwork was to rule out any metabolic disorder explaining his pica. We had good/bad news. The good news is the bloodwork was normal, the bad news is there isn't a simple solution to fixing this problem. So far the only advice we have found is give the cat a stimulating environment. Lots of toys, things to explore, make them work for their meals, use pheromones to help relax, limit exposure to known items to be eaten, etc. That is all much easier said than done. I really doubted the use of pheromones with Huddy, even though I have had good results with Feliway, a pheromone to help relax stressful cats, I wasn't quite sold. That was before Roscoe boarded with us at work.

It was my boarding weekend, and that Friday Roscoe came in to stay one week. This was not his first time staying with us, but something had changed. Roscoe was fractious. He was terrified of us, and was trying to attack "first". Roscoe's parents wanted us to examine him, get him up to date on vaccines and run the routine yearly bloodwork. The problem was we couldn't touch him! Thankfully we have two cat boarding rooms, each room has and upper and lower kennel, that is divided into three smaller cages. The cats each get a top or bottom, which has three "rooms" that we can divide if needed. We had to move the cat staying in the cage below Roscoe into the other room. I then sprayed the room and cage with Feliway, I also sprayed a towel that was then draped over the "room" Roscoe was hiding in. By Sunday morning it was like a whole new cat was staying with us. Roscoe was purring, rubbing on my hand, eating and using his litterbox. Monday was were able to touch him! I have always been a fan of Feliway, but now I am a believer! I have started spraying Feliway around where Huddy hangs out, and today I bought a pheromone collar for him to wear. Typically I would NEVER buy anything made by Sergeant's, because their flea/tick products are SO dangerous...but it's a pheromone, how can they mess that up?! With in minutes of putting the collar on Hudson, he was purring and being VERY loving! He has been more snugly tonight than ever before, and curled up under the blanket with me while I studied :)

The decision to finally try the collar, 2 weeks after the experience with Roscoe, was made for me this morning. Hudson decided to eat TWO more straps off a bra! I took him to work, and attempted to induce vomiting...nothing happened! At least we were able to trim his claws, and I made two ink paw prints while he was sedated! I had to leave my boy at work for a few hours while I ran some errands with my Dad, when I got back, he was SOOO stressed. There was a cat next to him that was upset, and screaming. Hudson actually attacked me when I tried to pick him up! He also stressed the whole car ride home, I felt like the collar certainly couldn't hurt after a day like today!

Todd and I have now made a wish list of cool toys and cat perches at Petsmart that we want for Hudson. I am considering asking for cats toys as my Birthday gift (my Birthday is next week)! This cat is a nut, and either way we will be spending money to replace eaten clothes, or entertain him.

I have some cute Hudson pictures to post, but cannot find my micro sd card adapter, hopefully he hasn't eaten it! I will post them whenever I find the damn card!
